20 January 2021 – Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia-JBPM) has recognized FRIM as a Fire Resistance Product Certification Body.
The recognition from 2 January 2021 has been submitted to the Director General (DG) of FRIM through the letter of DG JBPM on 23 December 2020.
Companies that supply fire resistance products must obtain a Product Compliance Certificate from the Product Certification Body recognized by JBPM before the Material Certification Certificate (Fire Safety Installation Certificate) is issued to the supplier.
The recognized scope is ‘MS 1073: Part 3:1996 (Amd. 1:2003) Specification For Fire Resistance Doorsets: Part 3: Methods For Determination Of The Fire Resistance – Type Of Doorsets’ and ‘BS 476:Part 21/22 Fire tests on building materials and structures. Methods for determination of the fire resistance of loadbearing elements of construction’.
With this recognition, FRIM PCS is ready to offer product certification services for fire resistance doors and walls to all suppliers in Malaysia.
